The Forza Support Team have just published the release notes for the latest update to Forza Horizon 5. Let's see what's fixed, and what we're still waiting for!
Forza Horizon 5 update
This update is coming to all four platforms the game is available on. Whether you're a Steam, Windows Store, Xbox One, or Xbox Series player, you'll need to update your game.
Forza Horizon 5 has differing version numbers for the different platforms. If you're checking to see if your install of the latest Horizon game has updated, here's what you're looking for:
- Xbox One: 2.414.967.0
- Xbox Series: 3.416.408.0
- PC: 3.414.967.0
- Steam: 1.414.967.0
The update notes are vague. We see "various stability fixes" and also "server stability improvements" both of which are much needed. YouTube star Don Joewon Song reports that he hasn't been able to play the game in several days because of how unreliable it is on his system. Plenty of players have also complained of the stability issues. Hopefully this will bring many players back to the game, which has seen dwindling numbers after its massive release.
Multiplayer issues addressed
The update also tackles some of the problems with multiplayer. There are network improvements and convoy matchmaking improvements, which should hopefully mean you can play with your friends without interruption.
Two specific issues are mentioned: "convoy members disappearing" and also "players trying to join another players server." Each of these have plagued players from day one. We're glad to see that the Forza team are looking at this.
Additional fixes
The notes mention a fix for an issue with Direct Storage on Xbox Series X|S consoles. No doubt this was a priority for one of Microsoft's biggest next-gen games.
Beyond that, we should see improvements to the traffic in freeroam. Hopefully the world of Forza Horizon 5 will seem a lot less empty now!
