News around Forza Motorsport, the upcoming Xbox Series X|S game, has been very thin on the ground since it was first revealed back in 2020.
However, it looks like the wheels have been turning in the background, as Creative Director Chris Esaki pulled a surprise on fans.
Closed playtesting
In the latest Forza Monthly update, Esaki said that closed playtesting is a part of a "new phase" in development, allowing Turn 10 Studios to develop the title in collaboration with the Forza community.
"The new news is today we will soon be able to share to our people in our Forza panel, they will actually be able to get their hands on a part of our new Forza Motorsport game."

This comes as a surprise to everyone, as the silence around the title had everyone assuming it would be 2022 before we saw anything from Forza Motorsport.
Perhaps the Gran Turismo 7 delay has spurred Turn 10 into action?
How to apply for closed playtesting
Fans that want to get an early look at Forza Motorsport can apply to be part of the closed playtest HERE.
The application takes the form of a short survey asking about the platforms and genres you play, and about what settings you adjust within games.
It's worth applying if you love racing!
Forza Motorsport release date
No one was really expecting Forza Motorsport in 2021. When first revealed in July 2020, Microsoft was careful to say the game was in early development, and with rumours of the Turn 10 team helping out on Halo Infinite it seemed the project would be a little longer in arriving than first hoped.
Now though, we could potentially see Forza Motorsport before the end of 2021.
