Gran Turismo 7 is set to reach new heights of visual fidelity on the PlayStation 5 Pro, with significant upgrades to its graphical capabilities coming with the arrival of Sony's powerful new console.
As highlighted by the developers, the game's native 4K rendering is receiving an additional boost with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. This feature enhances even 4K sources, bringing finer details and unprecedented image quality to the forefront.
In a statement shared on PlayStation's own blog, Polyphony Main Programmer Shuichi Takano said:
The introduction of ray tracing during races, a feature that was not previously possible, is the most notable upgrade. With this feature car surfaces will now display full reflections, not just of other vehicles but also of their own components. This adds an incredible layer of realism and immersion, allowing players to feel more connected to the action on the track. Of course, if you race in cockpit cam you might not get the most from it. But don't worry, Polyphony and the PS5 Pro have something for you too.
The experimental support for 8K at 60fps will allow players to experience the game's intricately designed cars and tracks in exceptional detail, with an unmatched sense of clarity and presence. The combination of high resolution and smooth frame rates promises a racing experience like never before.
With these advancements, Gran Turismo 7 continues to push the boundaries of visual performance, offering a more exciting and immersive experience for racing fans.
We are hopeful that a meaningful content update will hit Gran Turismo 7 when the PS5 Pro arrives but that is not yet confirmed by Polyphony.
