The end of the month is here and so is Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.31. The update is now live and waiting for you to install.
Following Kazunori Yamauchi's traditional Twitter teaser, players knew five cars would be hitting the game. Polyphony then revealed two added layouts to the Nurburgring in a blog post.
But with the patch notes now here we know exactly what this update holds for Gran Turismo 7 players.
Physics changes
The big news from Update 1.31 is a physics change to Gran Turismo 7. More than a year of from release it is nice to see that Polyphony is still improving the handling of the game.
There has been an update to the suspension physics, improving the stability of the car orientation during braking and traction during acceleration. This should stop cars feeling so wobbly. Damping characteristics have also been improved to help with bumps and kerbs.
Stability in low speed corners as been improved, and optimization to the tyre heating and wear model has been made. There are also improvements to aquaplaning in wet conditions.
Aerodynamics to formula cars (Super Formula, McLaren MP4/4 etc) is getting an update. This will optimise the relationship between downforce, air resistance, and the car's ride height.
Assists
Within the physics changes there are some tweaks to assists too. The degree of intervention with Traction Control has been adjusted. TCS 1 will now provide less intervention, while TCS 5 will provide more. ABS has been improved, to provide more stability under full braking conditions.
Active Stability Management sees an increase in intervention when oversteering, while Countersteering Assistance intervention has been reduced.
Five new cars
From an iconic 1980s supercar to a Japanese minivan, update 1.31 brings with it an eclectic assortment of cars.
As Porsche's answer to the Ferrari F40, the Porsche 959 '87 is the standout. We expect this will only be available to buy for a limited time in the Legends Car Dealership for an extortionate sum.
This isn't the only Porsche joining GT7's roster this week as update 1.31 also includes the Porsche Carrera GTS (904) '64.
The remaining cars coming in update 1.31 are the Audi RS 5 Turbo DTM '19 racecar, Mazda3 X Burgundy Selection '19 hatchback, and the Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge '18 minivan, also sold as the Toyota Vellfire in the UK.
New Nurburgring layouts
As well as five new cars, update 1.31 is also adding two additional Nurburgring layouts.
These include a new Endurance layout combining the Nordschleife and Grand Prix courses, resulting in an even longer track measuring 23,864m. This longer layout is used in the Nurburgring Endurance Series (NLS.)
Conversely, the Sprint layout is shorter, featuring just 12 corners and a length of 3,629m.
In addition, a new Cherry Blossoms location is being added to Scapes.
