Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is easy to get to grips with, but a few techniques will give you an edge over the competition. One of the best driving techniques you need to master is knowing how to drift in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged.
But how do you drift in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2? Our guide will show you how to master the art of driving sideways.
How to drift in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2’s twisty plastic tracks are perfectly set up for sliding around corners. However, drifting in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 doesn’t work like Mario Kart where you hold down a dedicated drift button. It requires finesse. Here's how to drift in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2.
As you approach a corner, let off the accelerator and gently tap the brake button (left trigger). This will make the car start to slide. Control the slide by reapplying the throttle and steering into the corner. Keep your steering and throttle inputs smooth to prevent losing control and veering off the track. Try not to go too wide as you may hit the wall.
Handily, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 has a new drift challenge mode if you need to practice your sideways driving skills. Drifting not only looks stylish, but it also charges up your boost meter. Timing a boost as you exit a drift will give you a handy speed boost to blitz past opponents.
There are six car classes in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Rocket, Balanced, Swift, Drifter, Off-Road, and Heavy Duty. As the name suggests, Drifter cars are designed for easier to control when drifting. Other classes focus on speed and handling but are more reluctant to get sideways.
Hot Wheels 2 Unleashed also introduces a new Skill system tree. This enables you to improve the drifting of other car classes by equipping perks. Handling perks will improve your car’s drifting, but these will reduce the amount of boost you earn while drifting.
Boost starting is another vital skill you need to master if you want to beat the competition - find out how to boost start in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 here.
