Gran Turismo 7’s graphics are breathtakingly beautiful, with immaculately detailed cars and environments, a crystal-clear 4K resolution, and realistic lighting effects thanks to ray-tracing. Gran Turismo has never looked better, but the incorrect settings can spoil the experience. Here’s how to change the display settings in Gran Turismo 7 to get the most eye-pleasing experience.
How to change display settings
Thankfully, it’s easy to change the display settings to make GT7 look its best on your TV. To change the display settings, navigate to the GT Menu by selecting the GT logo in the top left corner of the World Map and pressing Cross.
In the first Global settings tab, press Cross to select Display Settings. This allows you to change several settings to improve your viewing experience. The
Exposure
Adjusting the exposure increases or decreases the brightness of the visuals. Use the d-pad or analogue stick to turn it up or down.
Saturation
Changing the saturation adjusts the intensity of the colours. Use the d-pad or analogue stick to turn it up or down.
Graphics priority
On PlayStation 5, you can prioritise either frame rate or ray tracing. Prioritising frame rate will make GT7 run at the highest possible frame rate resulting in smoother performance. On PS5, GT7 runs at a maximum frame rate of 60fps. Prioritising frame-rate disables ray-tracing, which produces more realistic lighting effects and reflections but uses more resources.
For the best gameplay experience, we recommend prioritising frame rate as ray-tracing is disabled during races regardless of the setting you choose.
With ray-tracing prioritised, ray-tracing is enabled in race replays and 3D scenes. Polyphony notes that Ray Tracing is disabled “in sections where response times are important.”
Prioritising frame rate, on the other hand, enables ray-tracing in certain 3D scenes and photo mode.
Display settings assistant
When you first start the game, you’ll be prompted to calibrate certain settings for the best possible viewing experience. If you skipped this before, don’t worry because you can open the calibration assistant at the bottom of the display settings.
The display assistant will show test images and ask you to adjust your screen brightness accordingly to suit the lighting in your environment. With the wrong settings, the game could look too dark in light envionment or too bright in a dark envionment.
For example, one of the calibration tests display a chequered pattern. You then adjust the brightness until the pattern appears as faintly as possible.
