Micro-transactions are the bane of modern gaming to many. For others they are useful things that help them skip hours of grinding in a game.
For racers, they aren't usually a problem. We get macro-transactions, with big track packs or DLC expansions. Rarely are in-game purchases an option.
Well, after being absent for a while they are officially back for Gran Turismo 7.
Gran Turismo 7 in-game purchases
There are a little over 12 weeks until GT7 finally launches, and PlayStation racers can't wait.
We're all eyeing up the car list and planning our path to success, but one thing that might worry some is the return of in-game purchases.
We know these are back thanks to the ESRB rating. Rated E (for everyone) as we all expected, the ratings body notes that this game contains in-game purchases, a note that was missing from previous games.

This may just be an extension of the post-launch decision to let players buy cars with real money in GT Sport, but it might be something more akin to F1 2021's Podium Pass, which gives players rewards for accruing XP.
The hope is that it's just a harmless way to allow players to pay small sums to unlock relatively low-cost cars.
in GT Sport it was for cars valued under 2 million credits, preventing players from just buying up the full garage, and that would be ok. The worst case scenario is a battle pass that gives players exclusive cars, upgrade parts, or even tracks.
We just hope this into the start of a trend in racing titles.
Gran Turismo 7 release date
GT7 has an official release date of 4 March 2022, which thankfully isn't too far away.
The game will launch with two editions, the Standard Edition which is just the game, and the 25th Anniversary Edition.
Along with a physical steelbook and PS5 disc for the 25th Anniversary Edition, you get 1,100,000 in-game credits, the offical soundtrack, a Toyota GR Yaris, 30 PSN avatars and a three-car pack that features the epic Castrol Tom’s Supra GT500 ’97 along with the Porsche 917 Living Legend, and Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept.
