iRacing's Season 4 2025 update is shaping up to be one of the most substantial in years as it brings new cars, fresh tracks, physics overhauls, a completely redesigned Sim UI, and major strides in VR technology.

The update lays the foundation for the future of the sim while also upholding iRacing's dedication towards realism. Here's everything we know so far.

Season 4 introduces a selection of vehicles across multiple classes. These are:

  • The Aston Martin EVO GT3, created in partnership with professional racers and Aston Martin, ensuring authentic handling and visuals.
  • The BMW M4 GT3 is also receiving its Evo update, which current owners will receive for free.
  • The Dallara IL-15 has also been added, especially for open-wheel fans. This car offers a balanced entry point into high-performance open-wheel racing with a push-to-pass system.
  • The GT4 racing expanded to the Ford Mustang GT4. Alongside its debut, the whole GT4 category gets a physics overhaul, including tire model updates, improved aerodynamics, and balance of performance adjustments.

Apart from all these, hybrid systems also see refinements, with GTP and hypercar classes benefiting from smarter integration of ICE and electric power supply integration.

The main attraction of this season is the addition of Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. This track features seven layouts and unique challenges due to its high altitude, and the stadium section offers a striking atmosphere enhanced further by upcoming audio reverb features.

Several classic venues also get significant upgrades. The Oulton Park gets a complete refresh while the NASCAR Refresh wraps up with major rescans and updates to tracks, including Daytona, Watkins Glen, Texas Motor Speedway, and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Existing owners will be receiving these updates for free.

One of the biggest changes is the long-awaited new Sim UI, built on modern architecture to replace the dated legacy system. Every feature from the old UI has been redesigned with cleaner layouts, tooltips, improved customization, and quality-of-life updates.

This redesign not only increases usability, but it also establishes the foundation for future features like search functionality, accessibility views, and expanded customization.

VR Enhancements

Season 4 also brings a significant advancement for VR users with the addition of eye-tracking foveated rendering. This technology enhances clarity and performance across compatible headsets by ensuring the best quality exactly where the driver is looking. It's a step up from fixed foveated rendering with the potential to revolutionize realistic eye simulation in racing.

Future Improvements

While Season 4 is already packed, iRacing is also laying the groundwork for the future. A new graphics engine with DLSS support, better night lighting, and additional features like shadowed trees is under development. Tire modelling and four feedback systems are also being re-engineered for increased responsiveness and realism.

In terms of gameplay, Career Mode is in active development with expectations to offer AI-driven growth outside of online series. Along with all the new track scans, the FIA Cross Car, Adelaide Street Circuit, and St. Petersburg Street Circuit are also on the horizon.
