iRacing Studios has announced the development of a brand-new standalone INDYCAR racing game, set to release in the second half of 2026 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
This project is the product of a long-term licensing agreement between iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations and INDYCAR. With the release of the first INDYCAR-specific video game in over two decades, open-wheel racing fans are once again excited.
What can players expect from the game?
The upcoming game is expected to feature online multiplayer, a comprehensive career mode, and fully licensed drivers from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone. The game is being built from the ground up by a dedicated team within the iRacing Studios using their improved Orontes engine.
The developers further intend to integrate car and track assets, driving physics, and other technologies defined through their existing racing titles, including NASCAR 25 and World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing.
How are INDYCAR and iRacing involved in development?
INDYCAR is working extremely closely with iRacing Studios to ensure authenticity, with real-world teams and drivers contributing to the development process. One of the key figures contributing his expertise is Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin, a known iRacing enthusiast and seven-time INDYCAR race winner.
McLaughlin further expressed his excitement by calling it an honor to help shape INDYCAR's first dedicated title in decades, promising fans and at-home racing experiences that mirror the thrill of the sport.
