Online multiplayer is so popular nowadays that offline multiplayer sometimes gets forgotten about. It's very nostalgic to play a video game against someone sitting in the same room as you. Whether it's a football match in FIFA or a race in Assetto Corsa, it feels far more personal sat in your living room than in an online lobby.
But does Assetto Corsa Competizione have this feature? We've got all the info on split screen in ACC right here!
Splitscreen is essential to offline races
Online multiplayer is great if you're teaming up with friends or wanting to take on the player base of the game you're on. Offline is great though if you're wanting to go 1 v 1 around your favourite circuit.
This is where split-screen comes in, because unless you're using two TVs or monitors and connecting via LAN, you'll both have to use the same monitor. Split-screen fell out of fashion for a long time, but is now making a comeback, with racing games among the most popular.
F1 2021, for example, has finally allowed split-screen co-op campaigns back into its game.
So, does ACC have split-screen multiplayer? Unfortunately, the answer is no.
That doesn't mean to say that we won't see this feature added at a later date, though. ACC has been confirmed to be coming out on the next-gen consoles later this year and updates are regular for the racing simulator. If not for ACC, we could well see split-screen become a big selling point for the next Assetto Corsa.
However, that probably won't be released until around 2024. KUNOS have remained tight-lipped on this subject as well
A reasonable alternative
It's not the same, of course, but if you really want to play specifically against one of your friends, there is another way. You could just make a private lobby in multiplayer and play against them there online. It's not the same as split-screen, but at least you'll have the whole TV to yourself.
