Racing simulator games require so much effort to make, that they're often console-exclusive titles. The two biggest out there; Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, are only available on PlayStation and Xbox, respectively. But what about other series that aren't developed in-house? Like Assetto Corsa, for example.
Which consoles is ACC available on?
Ever since the first Assetto Corsa was released in 2014, it hasn't been tied to one specific console. That has continued with Assetto Corsa Competizione, as this too is available on multiple systems.
ACC is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. There are currently no plans to release the game on neither the next-gen consoles nor other systems like the Switch.
ACC was a PC exclusive when it initially launched in 2019, but KUNOS always made clear that ACC would come to the Microsoft and Sony home consoles.
The next AC we'd likely see would be a game on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but when is anybody's guess. If we go off the gap between AC and ACC, we could easily be waiting until 2025.
What about Crossplay?
Cross-platform play (crossplay for short) is the ability to play online against players that are using a different system to you.
For example, normally, you wouldn't be able to play in the same lobbies as your friend if they have a PS4 and you have an Xbox One. However, with crossplay, that's no longer an issue and this feature is becoming more and more common each year.
Unfortunately, though, this isn't the case for ACC, as crossplay isn't currently available. That might mean that we have to wait for Assetto Corsa 3 to come out to see crossplay in this series.
However, what could happen is that KUNOS introduce crossplay to the series via an update, like what we saw with titles like Need for Speed Heat. What's most likely to happen as well is that crossplay would begin between Xbox and PC, as they're both Microsoft systems, before adding PS4.
