The Crew Motorfest is the long-awaited sequel to The Crew 2. The last two games let you explore massive open-world maps set in the entire United States. The new game switches the location to the tropical paradise of O'hau, but is The Crew Motorfest open world?
With the continued success of Forza Horizon 5, open-world racing games are more popular than ever. Let’s find out if The Crew Motorfest will continue this trend.
Is The Crew Motorfest open world?
While the last two games took place in the US, The Crew Motorfest is set on a new map based on the tropical island of Oahu in Hawaii. While it's smaller in scale, this location is vastly more detailed. Like the last game, The Crew Motorfest is open-world, allowing you to explore O'hau and cruise with players online.
Compared to the US settings in the first two games, The Crew Motorfest's map is significantly smaller. This isn’t a bad thing, however. Ivory Tower is taking a similar approach to Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, focusing on density and variety rather than scale. With collectibles to hunt, side challenges to complete, and photo opportunities to discover, there's a lot to see and do in Motorfest's driving playground.
O'hau is smaller than previous maps, but its diversity makes it enjoyable to explore. You’ll race through sunny beaches, tear through city streets and venture off-road in lush rainforests. Themed playlists celebrate different car culture aspects, from Japanese tuners to American muscle cars and electric supercars.
In a neat touch, the envionment is themed for each event. For example, races in the Made in Japan Playlist feature neon-lit streets and smoking dragon decorations.
At launch, you can explore The Crew Motorfest’s open world in more than 600 vehicles including new brands and dozens of new models such as the Lamborghini Revuelto. Vehicles from The Crew 2 can be imported into The Crew Motorfest to expand your garage.
