While we’re still waiting for the mythical Mario Kart 9 to be announced, Nintendo is extending the life of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the Booster Course Pass.
Split into six waves releasing until the end of 2023, the DLC will add 48 classic tracks from classic Mario Kart games with updated graphics, doubling the number of courses in MK8 Deluxe. Wave 1 was released back in March, but Nintendo hasn’t confirmed when the next Wave will arrive.
However, an in-store advertisement at a Japanese shop suggests Wave 2 is just around the corner and could release as early as next week.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 2 DLC coming next week?
As VGC reports, an image shared by on Twitter by PushDustin shows 7-11 stores in Japan are advertising the Booster Course Pass. The advert shows Wave 1, with the other five waves covered by question marks.
However, a note in the top right tells staff to remove the advert on 18 July. Fans are speculating this possibly means Nintendo will announce or release Wave 2 on this date, four months after Wave 1.
If so, we can probably expect Nintendo to release a Waves every four months, with Wave 6 launching in late 2023.
Although Nintendo hasn’t announced Wave 2 yet, 7-11 has proven a reliable source having previewed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC in advertisements ahead of official announcements from Nintendo.
Which tracks will Wave 2 include?
Released in March Wave 1 includes the following eight tracks:
- Paris Promenade (Mario Kart Tour)
- Toad Circuit (Mario Kart 7)
- Choco Mountain (Mario Kart 64)
- Coconut Mall (Mario Kart Wii)
- Tokyo Blur (Mario Kart Tour)
- Shroom Ridge (Mario Kart DS)
- Sky Garden (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)
- Ninja Hideaway (Mario Kart Tour)
It’s unknown which tracks will be included in Wave 2. However, a datamine leak indicates future Waves will add fan-favourite tracks such as Maple Treeway, Mario Circuit, and DK Summit.
