Milestone has unveiled the next instalment in the official MotoGP game series. Speeding onto PCs and consoles this May, MotoGP 24 introduces two highly requested features by the community after last year’s game added dynamic weather and flag-to-flag races: Riders Market and Stewards.
Riders Market
In the real-life championship, Marc Marquez leaving Honda for Gresini Ducati was as dramatic as Lewis Hamilton switching to Ferrari in F1. MotoGP 2024 will replicate these unexpected transfers, with the new Riders Market allowing riders to move to other teams.
Every season will start with a different rider roster, with players fighting to keep their current seat or find a new one. Likes and replies on MotoGP 24’s social market will also ignite rumours about possible rider transfers.
Stewards
For the first time in the series, official MotoGP Stewards will monitor the race and timed sessions. Stewards will penalise you and AI riders for breaking the track rules, issuing simple Warnings, Long Lap and Time Penalties, as well as Let Pass orders for unfair overtakes.
Stewards have been frequently requested by the community and should add a new layer of authenticity to MotoGP 24. Milestone says the Riders Market and Stewards will provide “the most dynamic career mode developed in a MotoGP game.”
Elsewhere, a new adaptive difficulty system will adjust the difficulty of opponents based on the player’s performance. MotoGP 24 will also boast “substantial improvements” to the physics and AI. A new electronic tuning system will improve the power delivery on corner entries and exits to better “control rear wheel slip and the bike's tendency to wheelie,” while the tyre compounds will feel more distinct.
LiveGP Championships
Online, MotoGP 24 will introduce a new LiveGP Championships multiplayer mode. Here, players will race in seasons featuring a certain number of LiveGPs, challenging players to climb the championship leaderboard by scoring points at each LiveGP.
Crossplay will also enable players to race each other across PlayStation and Xbox. However, the PC and Nintendo Switch versions won’t support crossplay.
Release date
MotoGP 24 is racing onto PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on 2 May. That’s earlier than last year’s game, which came out on 8 June.
“We’re delighted to unveil MotoGP24's imminent release,” said Milestone CEO Luisa Bixio. As CEO, I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished in this new chapter, which for the first time in the history of the franchise will include the Riders Market, one of the longest-awaited features by our community."
The whole team has invested heart and mind to craft the best possible experience for fans worldwide and my heartfelt appreciation goes out to MotoGP for being constantly at our side in this journey.”
