EA is set to reveal Need Speed Unbound in an official trailer premiering tomorrow, 6 October 4pm BST. To generate hype, EA revealed the new NFS logo earlier this week but details, screenshots, and gameplay footage are being kept under wraps until tomorrow’s reveal.
Unfortunately for EA, the first Need for Speed Unbound screenshots have leaked online via a Japanese retailer website.
Need for Speed Unbound screenshots leak
Showcasing the game’s bold comic book aesthetic, four Need for Speed Unbound screenshots were posted by Japanese retailer Neowing in a product listing.
As rumours have suggested, the cars look realistic but the characters adopt a cartoon-style look. One screenshot shows a cartoon version of American rapper A$AP Rocky standing next to his custom Mercedes-Benz 900E.
The same car is featured in the official artwork posted on EA’s website, so it's likely be the game’s cover car.
Other screenshots show a modified Mitsubishi Eclipse, a Mercedes G Wagon with a striking side decal, and a Nissan Skyline being chased by a Dodge Charger cop car while sparks fly off the wheels.
This supports rumours that Need for Speed Unbound will feature anime-inspired smoke and fire effects when drifting, jumping and crashing. It’s a bold move for the franchise and we look forward to seeing how it looks in tomorrow’s trailer.
Notably, only the PS5 version is listed on Neowing with no PS4 version available and an unconfirmed 2 December release date. This possibly confirms reports that Unbound will be current-gen only.
Trailer premiering tomorrow
We don’t have to wait long for our first official look at Need for Speed Unbounded. After months of rumours and leaks, EA will finally reveal Need for Speed Unbound in a trailer expected to last around 90 seconds featuring a soundtrack by A$AP Rocky.
Need for Speed Unbound has a rumoured 2 December release date, but we should get a confirmed release date tomorrow.
