New cars teased for Assetto Corsa Competizione this month

Following last monthā€™s excellent next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrade, Assetto Corsa Competizione fans can look forward to new content later this month.

A mysterious teaser on the official Assetto Corsa social media accounts confirms that new cars are coming to the revered racing simulation on 23 March.

Unfortunately, Kunos Simulazioni hasnā€™t announced which cars are coming, but the accompanying teaser video provides a few clues.

New cars coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione 23 March

According to the teaser video, ā€œnew challengersā€ are joining ACCā€™s car roster on 23 March. While the teaser doesnā€™t show any of the new cars, we can see each car's silhouette in the shadows. We can also hear samples of each car's engine. It's a reminder that Assetto Corsa Competizione still has some of the most visceral engine sounds in a racing simulation. Ā

One of the silhouettes appears to show the distinctive shape of a Porsche 911 with a massive spoiler. Its engine note also sounds like Porsche's signature flat-six. This is likely to be a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992, which was spotted in a previous video. In the same video, a BMW M2 CS Racing and Ferrari 488 Challenge were also shown.

Is this you, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992?

It probably isnā€™t a coincidence that ACC is hosting a Ferrari Esports event on 22 March. This makes it more likely that the Ferrari 488 Challenge will be one of the DLC cars. This will be ACCā€™s first paid DLC pack in over a year ā€“ the last DLC was the British GT pack released last February.

Initially, the new car pack will only be available on PC, but it should come to consoles at a later date.

Assetto Corsa 2 is in development

As for what the future holds for Assetto Corsa, Kunos Simulazioni recently confirmed that Assetto Corsa 2 has started development. While ACC uses Unreal Engine 4, the sequel will run on a brand new in-house engine.

In the meantime, a new track pack will be released for ACC this summer, adding new circuits that arenā€™t linked to the GT World Challenge Europe this summer. Donā€™t get your hopes up for PSVR 2 support on PS5 though, as Kunos Simulazioni currently has no plans to support Sonyā€™s new VR headset.
