Next Gen Ford Mustang coming to NASCAR 21 Ignition this week

After the NASCAR Next Gen Cars were updated in iRacing yesterday, the Ford Mustang Next Gen Car is coming to NASCAR 21 Ignition later this week.

NASCAR 21 Ignition was one of 2021’s most disappointing racing games. But to the developer's credit, Motorsport Games has been steadily improving the game with regular updates. Last month’s update added many fan-requested features such as Stage Races and private parties.

To get us ready for the Daytona 500, the next update will add a new Test Drive mode featuring the Ford Mustang Next Gen NASCAR Cup Series racer.

Motorsport Games has announced that NASCAR 21’s Next Gen car update is coming on 17 February for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Just in time for this weekend’s Daytona 500, NASCAR 21 Ignition players can drive the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Next Gen Ford Mustang around the iconic Daytona International Speedway. It’s not clear if you can race it with other cars in the Test Drive mode, however.

Redesigned for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series, the new Next Gen cars feature a brand new chassis, composite bodywork, and independent rear suspension.

Anyone attending the Daytona 500 race weekend can also test drive the Next Gen car in NASCAR 2021 Ignition at the on-site eNASCAR Arcade.

“Our development team couldn’t be happier about adding Next Gen cars to the current iteration of Ignition, especially prior to the kickoff of the 2022 NASCAR season,” said George Holmquist, Vice President of Publishing and Marketing at Motorsport Games.

“We have shared in the excitement of our players and NASCAR fans with this highly anticipated game addition. We made sure to recreate the Next Gen car as close to its real-life counterpart as possible and we can’t wait for everyone to get acclimated with driving the newest stock car in-game, just like the drivers will be throughout the year.”

Free Play Weekend

If you want to try the game for free, Motorsport Games announced the Xbox version of NASCAR 21: Ignition will be free-to-play from 17-20 February.

Free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players

After this week’s Next Gen update, the next update in April will include a free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players that improves the performance.
