If you’re looking for a fun Mario Kart alternative, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway is screeching onto consoles and PC next month. After the initial reveal back in July, the first Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 gameplay trailer has been released.
The trailer showcases some of the 40 playable characters from beloved Nickelodeon shows, including SpongeBob Squarepants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Gameplay trailer
In the trailer, we get to see the likes of Spongebob Squarepants, Patrick Star, and Ninja Turtle Raphael battle it out. Other confirmed characters shown in the trailer include Garfield, Hey Arnold’s Helga, Ren from Ren and Stimpy, Jimmy Neutron, and Rocko from Rocko’s Modern Life.
Compared to the first two games, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 is shaping up to be a more polished and complete experience. Unlike the last two games, every character is voice acted so you'll hear some familiar one-liners in races.
To shake up the gameplay, your kart or bike can transform into a watercraft to navigate water sections. That sounds a lot like Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which is no bad thing.
As well as standard racing with powerups, the game will also feature a battle Arena mode as well as split-screen and online multiplayer.
Release date
The cartoon kart racer was already slated for an early October release, but the trailer reveals the exact date.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on 14 October. With Disney Speedstorm also just around the corner, kart racing fans have a lot to look forward to later this year.
