Project Motor Racing had a rough start with the launch, which was plagued by game-breaking issues. While Straight4 Studios remained committed to rectifying the situation, the developers faced even tougher times as the team underwent layoffs in the weeks following the release.
The circuit racer has received a handful of updates that vastly improve the overall experience. But it remains far from the promise it showed ahead of launch. Now, developers have outlined a short-term roadmap giving us a brief idea about the future.
Continue reading to know what content and improvements Project Motor Racing will receive in the coming weeks and months.
Project Motor Racing Future Roadmap

The roadmap the developers at Project Motor Racing shared isn't a traditional roadmap that details all the content and the dates they'll go live. It just roughly outlines all the improvements that are currently underway and what is planned.
You can check all improvements and new features, as shared by Straight4 Studios, below:
Ongoing improvements
- Continued handling refinements across all vehicle classes
- UI and UX improvements throughout the game
- A complete overhaul of the penalty system
- Continued upgrades to online stability and functionality
- Rendering and visual enhancements
- Performance and engine optimisation
- Audio improvements.
- Visual upgrades to vehicles and environments
- Input and haptics updates
- Pit lane and pit stop improvements
- AI opponents optimisation
The visuals, AI, and sound departments of the game were lacking when Project Motor Racing first launched. It is now in a much improved state because of the several major updates the game has received since. It still doesn't hold up to its peers, however.
At launch, the game had a rather boring and incomplete UI, which could still use some fine-tuning. Other changes, like the continuous performance optimization, are welcomed.
New features in development
- Radar system
- Spotter support
- Rolling starts
- VR support for PC
- New online modes
- Native triple-screen support
- Frontend and menu overhaul
- Career Mode restructuring and expansion
Even disregarding the performance issues, the content and features on offer were sparse for a full-price title. So, something like career mode restructuring and expansion is the right step to fulfill the pre-release promises.
Developers noted the goal here is to build a "foundation for Project Motor Racing." And then introduce "features thoughtfully", one that'll live up to "depth, polish, and authenticity you and this genre demand."
A rough launch isn't all too uncommon for live titles or the racing genre. Some games have turned things around through resilient post-launch support and listening to feedback.
We all agree this is not a point a fully released title should find itself in. Still, the recent improvements Project Motor Racing has received could be enough reason to have a small bit of optimism.
That's everything about the future content plans for Project Motor Racing. We'll be sure to keep you posted with the latest news.
