We were looking forward to the release of Redout 2 this week. Originally slated for release on 26 May, developer 34BigThings has announced that Redout 2 has suffered a last-minute delay.
Redout 2 delayed
In an update on social media, 34BigThings announced Redout 2 is launching on 16 June, three weeks later than planned. The delay is due to “some technical issues” that “were harder to deal with than expected.”
34Things is confident the extra development time will make Redout 2 the “best AG racing experience ever” and wants the game to be “the best it could possibly be before it arrives in your hands.”
A post on the Redout 2's official social media pages reads: “We know you have been eagerly awaiting the release of Redout 2 later this month, but unfortunately, the fastest racer in the universe needs just a little more development time before it’s ready to go and will now launch on June 16 on PC, PS5|4, XSX|X1 & Switch."
This will help ensure we’re firing on all cylinders out of the gate and delivering the best gameplay experience for everyone. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to racing with you all soon!”
From what we’ve seen in gameplay trailers, Redout 2 will be worth the extra wait. A sequel to the original 2016 game, Redout 2’s blisteringly fast anti-gravity racing at speeds of over 1,000 km/h looks exhilarating, complemented with a pumping electronic soundtrack.
At launch, Redout 2 will feature 10 vibrant locations, 72 tracks, extensive ship customisation, and online multiplayer for up to 12 players.
With no new WipeOut, F-Zero, or Star Wars Racer games on the horizon, Redout 2 could give the anti-gravity racing genre the resurgence it needs.
Redout 2 release date
Redout 2 launches on 16 June on a multitude of platforms including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
