SCS Software is preparing a major update for two (or one, depending on who you ask!) of Euro Truck Simulator 2's most popular vehicles.

Update 1.57 will introduce a free rework for the Scania R & S series trucks, bringing them in line with the latest generation of technology and design from the real-world Scania lineup. The development team has been hard at work with Scania, collaborating with them to bring a significant list of new engines, interiors, and customization parts to the game.

New SUPER and V8 Powertrains

A core component of this rework is a massive expansion of the powertrain options. This update introduces the new line of Scania SUPER engines, including the 420, 460, 500, and 560 horsepower variants. These engines are celebrated for their fuel efficiency and reliable hauling power.

For drivers who need to move heavy cargo, the update also delivers Scania's latest V8 offerings. Players will soon have access to the powerful 590, 660, and the top-of-the-line 770 horsepower engines.

To manage all this new power, the rework is completed with the inclusion of new Opticruise G25, G33, and G38 CM/CMR transmissions, ensuring smooth and realistic gear shifting.

A Modern Smart Dash Interior

The interior of the Scania R & S has also received special attention. The update will add Scania’s modern Smart Dash and Smart Dash Advanced interiors, which feature enhanced in-cab technology and a more driver-focused layout.

These new dashboards will be available in three distinct variants: Dark, Light, and a V8-specific design. This, combined with existing in-cab customization options, will allow drivers to create a truly personalized home on the road.

Exterior Upgrades and Deeper Customization

The rework extends to the truck's exterior with a host of new components. Players can now add SUPER engine badges and SUPER grille emblems to show off their new powertrain. For owners of the Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack, special cabin badges will also be available.

To further reflect real-world configurations, SCS has added new exterior parts like separated rear lights, front fenders with sensors, and removable rear fender tops. The team has also expanded the available fuel tank options across multiple chassis types, including 1070 L and 1290 L tanks for the 4x2 chassis.

Finally, the update will be rounded out with the official Scania SUPER and 770 paint jobs, which are available for both the trucks and compatible trailers.
