Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Could Be Coming Sooner Than Expected

Despite being one of this year’s most anticipated new racing game releases, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown still doesn’t have a firm release date. Since it was announced in 2020, KT Racing’s open-world racer has suffered multiple delays, with a vague early 2024 release window.

Now though, a new financial report from Nacon suggests we’ll be cruising the streets of Hong Kong Island sooner rather than later.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown coming before 31 March 2024

As reported by The Loadout, Nacon’s latest financial earnings report reveals that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is set to launch in Q4 of the 2023 financial year ending 31 March 2024. Unless the open world is delayed again, this means we’ll be playing TDUSC by the end of March at the latest. Yes, we may only have to wait a couple more months for TDU to make a triumphant return after 13 years.

While the Q4 FY release window was already confirmed last year, we were expecting a delay given that TDUSC still doesn’t have a confirmed release date and hasn't had a lot of marketing. However, Nacon's latest financial report seemingly confirms that TDUSC is still on track for release early this year.

Will Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown be delayed again?

If TDUSC is heading to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in the next couple of months, we should find out the confirmed release date very soon. TDUSC was last shown off in December in the slick ‘The Racer’ trailer showcasing a Corvette ZR1 tearing up the streets of Hong Kong Island.

Showing in-engine footage, the trailer showed that TDUSC has come a long way since last year’s gameplay trailer and looked nearly ready for release. We were expecting the trailer to reveal the release date, but this wasn’t the case.

With no competition other than Expeditions: A MudRunner Game in the open-world driving genre, March is an ideal time for TDUSC to shine. It also gives TDUSC enough distance from The Crew Motorfest, which launched in September.

First announced in 2020, the open-world racer was initially slated for a September 2022 release before being delayed until 2023 with the PS4 and Xbox One versions cancelled. It was then pushed back until 2024 last July alongside the initial gameplay reveal.

We’re still waiting for Nacon to confirm the release date, but it looks like the long wait for TDUSC will final be over soon. Are you excited to play Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown within the next couple of months? Start your engines in the comments below.
