Ubisoft expected to reveal new Forza Horizon rival Motorfest soon

As The Crew 2 approaches its fifth anniversary this year, Ubisoft and Ivory Tower continue to support the open-world racer. Season 7 Episode 2 brought extreme snowstorms and new cars to The Crew 2 this week, but fans are starting to wonder if The Crew 3 is on the horizon.

Rumours have been swirling that Ubisoft is rebranding The Crew 3 as new IP Motorfest to rival Forza Horizon. Although Ubisoft has yet to announce the project officially, Insider Gaming expects Motorfest to be revealed sooner rather than later.

The Crew 3 reportedly rebranded as Motorfest

Codenamed Project Orlando, the project allegedly started as DLC for The Crew 2 before becoming a standalone title taking place on tropical a Hawaiian island.

Sources have told Insider Gaming that Ubisoft is gearing up to reveal Motorfest “in the coming months” as a “yet-to-be-announced major IP” penned for FY24.

If these sources are correct, we can expect Motorfest/The Crew 3 to arrive between April 2023 and March 2024.

The news comes after Ubisoft cancelled several announced IPs to focus on popular franchises such as Assassins Creed and Far Cry.

Could we see Motorfest at E3 2023?

With sources suggesting a reveal happening in a few months, Ubisoft will likely show Motorfest at E3 2023, which is scheduled to take place between 13 and 16 June.

E3’s “partnered digital events” are slated for 11-12 June, so we can expect Ubisoft’s conference on one of these dates.

If Motorfest is due to arrive by April 2024, it will face tough competition from the long-delayed Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown set to arrive sometime this year. We could also see Forza Horizon 6 in 2024 or 2025, so open-world racing fans will be well catered for.
