The first round of the group stages of the V10 R-League has been completed and we're so glad it's back!
Round 2 starts on Monday 19th April and the following day brings us the most high-profile clash of the group stage. Season 1 champions Redline go toe-to-toe with Red Bull Esports.
Table of Contents
This is a clash so huge that it could be mistaken for the final of the series. Who will come out on top, though? We've got everything you need to know right here!
Clash of the Titans
The group draw has led to some amazing teams being pitted against each other, none more so that Redline and Red Bull. This clash has the air of the champions against the challengers and that's certainly what it is in the context of Group A.
Red Bull nor Redline can afford to drop any points as Aston Martin are the early leaders after Round 1 after they clean swept R8G.
When it comes to which drivers will be racing, Michal Smidl, Enzo Bonito and Jeffrey Rietveld should be in the cockpit for Redline again. However, we could see one of the more experienced reserve drivers make a return for this clash, as Ben Cornett and Atze Kerkof are still on the team's books.
Red Bull didn't compete in Round 1, but Graham Carroll, Joni Tormala and Nestor Garcia should all be in action. Although, there could be a surprise appearance for Frederik Rasmussen, as he is one of the team's reserve drivers.
Prediction
This is such a tough one to predict, as the margins in the V10 R-League are so fine. It'll be a tight and highly competitive bout; it could even be the series' first draw in Season 2.
Both teams are fielding two experienced competitors, along with a less experienced but fast youngster. Bonito does have a race under his belt though, while Garcia doesn't. In fact, it could be this rustiness that edges it for Redline, as they took part in Round 1, while Red Bull had to sit it out.
In Season 1, Redline came out on top 2-1 over Red Bull in a tight contest. Red Bull were one of only three teams to take any points from Redline last season. If you take out the head-to-head contest too, the match would've ended in a 1-1 draw, so expect a similar result on Tuesday.
