V10 R-League Redline vs Aston Martin preview - Group A bye at stake

It's the final week of group action in the V10 R-League, and there is still plenty to fight for.

While both teams have locked in a playoff spot, one of these two will top the group and get a bye straight to the semi-final, while the other will have to fight it out with a group B team in the first round.

Who will come out on top?

Champions on the charge

Redline has been in imperious form this season, with a pair of 3-1 wins and a 4-0 drubbing of Red Bull. The team has looked balanced and consistent, but also shown rapid pace and a great grasp of in-race tactics.

If they have a weak point, it's a lack of one out-and-out super-duper-star driver. Enzo Bonito, Michal Smidl, and Jeffrey Rietveld are a deadly trio when on track together, but in clear air can they match the pace of the elite drivers in this series?

A rising power

After an up-and-down season 1, Aston Martin has been flying in Season 2. Led by Scot Lucas Blakeley and with a very strong pair of Shanaka Clay and Daniele Haddad backing him up, they have overpowered R8G Esports and YAS Heat, but fell to Red Bull.

However, they have shown some extrodinary pace, and with a playoff spot secured they have nothing to lose going ultra-aggressive against Redline. Can they shake the champions off the top of Group A?

Prediction

We have seen teams throw everything at Redline and come away empty handed. Can Aston Martin change that? Absolutely!

The new format this season has favoured having one star man, and Aston Martin have that in Blakeley. While the Scot has made some errors, he is consistently qualifying on the front row and leading team races. If he can get his nose in front then he can disappear into the distance, even against a team as talented as Redline.

It will be up to the Redline team to remain consistent and mistake-free. They've been an uncrackable combination all season, and will give Aston Martin their toughest test yet.

Prediction: Redline 3-1 Aston Martin
