The first round of the group stages of the V10 R-League has been completed and we can't wait to see more!
Round 2 starts on tomorrow and Wednesday brings us a crucial match in the play-off race. Aston Martin were the Group A leaders after their victory over R8G in Round 1. They'll have their work cut out for them though, as Redline and Red Bull are gunning for top spot.
YAS Heat have big aspirations of their own too, and will be hoping for at least third in the group. Who will come out on top in this one? We've got everything you need to know right here!
Battle to qualify
The draw for the groups has meant that qualifying from Group A will be a huge ask for most teams. With both Redline and Red Bull likely to occupy the top two spots in the standings, that only leaves one place left to make the play-offs.
Both YAS Heat and Aston Martin will be gunning for that spot, so this match-up is huge for how the group will shakeup.
When it comes to which drivers will be racing, Lucas Blakeley, Shanaka Clay and Daniele Haddad should be in the cockpit for Aston Martin again. Given that this trio achieved a perfect score in Round 1, it would be surprising if Aston Martin opted to change a winning formula.
YAS Heat stole a point off Redline, so their driver line-up should also remain the same. Simon Weigang, Cedric Thome and Manuel Biancolilla are all rookies in the V10 R-League. So, the more experience they can get, the better.
Prediction
Both YAS Heat and Aston Martin have serious fire power and strong cases can be made for both to qualify. Out of the two, Aston Martin probably have the faster driver line-up. However, their inter-team collision at Spa means they can make crucial mistakes at times.
Aston Martin also have the experience advantage too, as all three of their drivers have competed in the V10 R-League since day one.
In Season 1, YAS Heat pulled off a 2-1 victory over Aston Martin. That was partly down to having James Baldwin in their line-up for the weekend, though. Also, if you take away the head-to-head contest, it was a 1-1 draw.
Expect a close fight, perhaps even a 2-2 draw.
