Even though WRC Generations was only released a few months ago, the next WRC game is just around the corner.
This year, Codemasters and EA are taking over the WRC game license from KT Racing. EA’s first WRC game is expected to launch this year and will be Codemasters’ first rally racer since DIRT Rally 2.0.
We’re used to WRC games releasing towards the end of the year. But according to a reliable leaker, WRC 23 is “ready to launch,” so an announcement should come sooner rather than later.
WRC 23 is “ready to launch”
Datamine leaker Billbill-kun has shared several images allegedly showing achievements that can be unlocked in WRC 23.
“WRC 2023's title from EA/Codemasters is ready to launch,” said in a Twitter post, adding that we can “expect an announcement very soon.”
This corroborates a report from GamesIndustry.bz last year claiming that WRC 23 will be released in Spring 2023. This is unusual as KT Racing’s WRC games were normally released in September or October.
Codemasters and EA haven't officially announced WRC 23, so this is still an unverified rumour for now.
That said, Billbill-kun does have credence when it comes to leaks as they have accurately leaked monthly PlayStation Plus Essential games in the past.
If the leaker is right, we could see a WRC 23 announcement and reveal trailer as early as next week before the end of the month. Incidentally, this means the announcement could collide with the Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure expansion next week.
WRC 23 rumours
Little is known about WRC 23. Naturally, we can expect the WRC 2023 cars and locations to feature.
This year’s season sees the return of Chile and Mexico on the calendar alongside a new Central European rally in Germany, Austria and Czech Republic replacing Rally de Catalunya.
The powerful Rally1 hybrid cars introduced in WRC Generations last year will also return.
A report by Insider Gaming last year also claims that WRC 23 take customisation to the next level with the ability to build your own rally car from scratch.
If the rumours are right, we won’t have to wait long to see how WRC 23’s innovative car-building system works.
