Sim racers have been desperately waiting for a true sequel to Assetto Corsa and we are finally getting it in the shape of Assetto Corsa Evo, but will it come to PS5?
AC Evo is now just weeks away and will hit early access on PC in January 2025 but console players could be waiting a while.
The spiritual successor to the original Assetto Corsa, AC Evo looks incredible and will go back to the series' original roots of focusing on a mix of road cars and historic racers rather than a sportscar series like we saw in Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Assetto Corsa Evo PS5
Digital Bros' financial report confirms that Assetto Corsa Evo is heading to consoles. Unfortunately, that's all the information we have right now.
However, we can look to AC's previous titles to know what to expect for AC Evo. The original AC launched in 2014 on PC and made the jump to PS4 and Xbox One two years later in 2016.
Competizione was released for PC in 2019, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming a year later in 2020. In 2022, ACC was also launched on PS5 and Series X|S.
Given how successful the Assetto Corsa franchise has been on PS4 and PS5, it would make perfect sense for KUNOS to continue this trend by releasing Evo on the Sony home console as soon as they can.
On PS5, Assetto Corsa Evo should run in 4K resolution and 60fps, but Kunos has yet to confirm this.
A PS4 version is unlikely though, as Kunos will want to take full advantage of the current-gen consoles to deliver the best possible graphics and physics.
Assetto Corsa Evo PS5 Release Date Prediction
While the PC version entering early access in January 2025, it will be a long wait for a PS5 release. Console versions of Assetto Corsa Evo are planned for the "long term".
The Steam page is available to view for the PC version of AC Evo, but there's nothing on the PlayStation Store yet, further alluding to a PS5 version being launched a considerable time after the PC version.
As a result, we expect Assetto Corsa Evo to arrive on PS5 in 2026 at the earliest.
