Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the most intense and realistic racing sims available on console. Since its release, PlayStation and Xbox racers have been able to take on the official GT world challenge racing simulator, but only against players on the same console. Until now.
Crossplay has finally arrived on Assetto Corsa Competizione on consoles.
Crossplay launches
Crossplay is always popular in modern racing games. Being able to take on anyone around the world regardless of the platform is high on every sim racer’s wishlist. This wasn't possible on Assetto Corsa Competizione until now.
As of 13 December, Assetto Corsa Competizione crossplay on console is now possible. PlayStation 5 players can now take on those racing on Xbox Series X|S and vice versa via a free update to the game, finally bringing console players together.
Cross-platform racing is available for players on Public Multiplayer casual and quick-paced races. Competition Servers and Private Leagues also support cross-platform play, creating a wide range of race types for crossplay racing.
At the time of writing, PC players still can't race against console players, with no further news on whether this will come to the game. For now, though, this is great news for console racers.
GT2 Pack DLC coming in January 2024
2023 may be drawing to a close, but there’s still time for new content to be announced for next year. Assetto Corsa Competizione’s GT2 Pack DLC was recently revealed, with new cars and a new track coming to the sim.
In terms of cars, the Porsche 935 and Porsche 911 GT2 RS CS EVO Kit celebrate the legendary racing history of the German manufacturer. These are just part of the offerings of the GT2 Pack DLC, with a German theme in the new track as well.
After what seems like an eternity, the infamous Nordschleife will finally make its ACC bow in Spring 2024. Like Forza Motorsport, the Nordschleife is being added post-release to boost the already impressive tracklist.
Two perfect Porsches and the addition of the Green Hell make for a great DLC for Assetto Corsa Competizione going into the new year. The Season 2024 GT World Challenge DLC Pack will be available on both PC and console.
