F1 2021 New Features: Braking Point, classic drivers, new circuits, and more!

We now know that F1 2021 will be released on 16 July, across PC, PS4 and Xbox One - as well as on next-generation consoles!

This is all pretty exciting news, especially as Codemasters have packed plenty of new features into this upcoming title.

Here, we'll take a look at all the brand new things we've got waiting for us in the upcoming game.

Braking Point

The standout new feature is the ‘Braking Point’ story mode that will add some extra bite to F1 2021.

This new mode will see players start out in F2 - the junior category - before moving up to F1. We also know that the fictional character of Devon Butler, who was in F1 2019’s career mode as the player's fierce rival, will return here in F1 2021.

Latest news - Braking Point reveal coming

Codemasters will be unveiling Braking Point soon.

A YouTube video is premiering on 16 June at 4pm BST which promises to lift the curtain on the brand new mode.

Classic drivers

We weren't expecting this!

Very little is known about this feature at the moment, but Codemasters have confirmed that seven unnamed 'classic' F1 drivers will be part of the My Team driver-manager mode - but only in the Deluxe edition of the game.

TASTY: We went full-retro with Michael Schumacher's arsenal of F1 cars in F1 2020.

Previously, F1 2019 had a Legends edition which focused on Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost’s rivalry, and F1 2020 featured Michael Schumacher-themed options, so it's any guess which other classic F1 drivers will be available here.

We're holding out for Ricardo Rosset.

New circuits

Did someone say Imola?

All three of the new circuits to this season’s calendar – Portimao, Imola, and Jeddah – will be available as a free, post-launch update in F1 2021.

Two-player Career Mode

Pick a friend and rule the roost!

F1 2021's career mode will debut a two-player option, which will allow you and a friend to join each other online and play out the same career together.

You can be teammates or compete at totally separate constructors - just make sure you don't go full Hamilton/Rosberg!

Real-Season Start

Don't want to go through the entirety of the 2021 campaign? Real-Season Start is the one for you.

Yet another new feature to the game’s career mode, here players can begin the season at any point they wish - complete with real-time driver and constructor standings.
