F1 23 Driver Ratings August Update: The rise of Piastri

We’re over halfway through the Formula 1 summer break, but that hasn’t stopped Codemasters from updating the F1 23 driver ratings. Covering the Hungarian and Belgian Grand Prix results, let’s see who gains and loses in the latest F1 23 driver ratings.

The rise of Piastri

2023 didn’t get off to the best start for Oscar Piastri, but since McLaren changed their car design the Australian has been flying.

A fantastic result at Silverstone was just the start, as Piastri finished fifth in Hungary, came second in the sprint at Spa, and could have even scored a podium in the Belgian Grand Prix were it not for a first-corner collision with Carlos Sainz.

Moving up to 11th in the driver’s standings, it was guaranteed Oscar would see his ratings increase this month, and that’s exactly what’s happened. Piastri’s overall rating has soared from 76 to 79.

This is boosted by an increase of four in Pace, an improvement of three in Racecraft and a rise of one in both Experience and Awareness.

Freefalling Stroll

While it’s been a great couple of races for Oscar, the same sadly can’t be said for Lance Stroll. A run of disappointing finishes has seen Lance languish in ninth in the driver’s standings. It’s only right, then, that this is reflected in his driver ratings.

A drop of two in both Pace and Racecraft, combined with a decrease of one in Awareness has seen Stroll’s overall rating sink from 83 to 81. Hopefully, the second half of the year will be more successful for the Canadian.

Hitting the Max

Max Verstappen has once again seen his ratings increase. A one-point boost across the board has seen his overall rating rise to 96, proving his dominance isn’t just limited to the real world.

With no signs of him slowing down anytime soon, could Verstappen keep his winning streak going once the racing resumes?

F1 23 driver ratings update (August 2023)

As a reminder, F1 23 driver ratings are split into four categories: Experience, Racecraft, Awareness, and Pace.

Nyck de Vries also remains on the list as he's in the AlphaTauri from the start of the season.

Back to Baku in F1 Replay

With the summer break still ongoing, Codemasters are taking us all the way back to Azerbaijan for the latest F1 23 F1 Replay. With plenty of opportunities to change the result of the race through the streets of Baku, who will you choose to steer through the Azerbaijan Grand Prix?

Polesitter Charles Leclerc saw his hopes for victory fade on just lap four as DRS saw the Red Bulls soar past. Fernando Alonso risked it all on the safety car restart but still couldn’t quite reach the podium. Meanwhile, poor old Oscar Piastri struggled with food poisoning all weekend, narrowly missing out on the points.

With little excitement besides Esteban Ocon dodging photographers, now’s your chance to add some high-octane action to the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
