F1 Manager 2023: Best Head of Aerodynamics to hire

F1 Manager 2023 is here and we're bringing you the best Head of Aerodynamics when you start your save.

To stand still in Formula 1 is to move backwards, so you'll need to develop your car as effectively as possible in F1 Manager 2023. Aerodynamics dictate how much grip your car has and therefore, its overall performance.

We've already brought you the best Race Engineers and Sporting Directors and today it's the turn of the best Head of Aerodynamics in F1 Manager 2023. Here's everything you need to know about the Head of Aero!

F1 Manager 2023: Best Head of Aerodynamics

Head of Aerodynamics isn't a new staff position in F1 Manager 2023, having also been in F1 Manager 2022 last year. Aerodynamics are arguably the most important part of developing Formula 1 cars, especially since the re-introduction of Ground Effect in 2022.

Head of Aerodynamics have eight attributes which make up their overall ratings. These are Cooling, DRS Delta, High Speed DF, Medium Speed DF, Low Speed DF, Drag Reduction, Airflow Management and Airflow Sensitivity.

Those eight stats are the eight areas of the car that are available for aerodynamic development. The higher your Head of Aerodynamics is in all of them, the faster and more effective development will be for them.

So, to ensure your car makes significant gains between race weekends, you'll need a great Head of Aerodynamics. Here are the five best Head of Aerodynamics in F1 Manager 2023 when you start your game!

Enrico Balbo

Enrico Balbo was promoted to Head of Aerodynamics at Red Bull Racing midway through 2021 and it's fair to say that the Milton Keynes outfit has enjoyed serious success since then.

Balbo has been in Formula 1 since 2006, having previously worked for both Williams and Mercedes.

Balbo is head and shoulders above the competition, much like his Red Bull RB19 car. He's got an Overall of 95, five higher than anybody else! His lowest stat of 89 Cooling is still higher than most Head of Aeros' highest stats.

Unsurprisingly, Balbo's highest stat is the perfect 99, which he has for both DRS Delta and Airflow Sensitivity. If you don't have Balbo on your team, you'll be facing an uphill battle all season.

Diego Tondi

Ferrari has promoted from within for their new Head of Aerodynamics for 2023! Diego Tondi has been with the Scuderia since 2012 and has seriously impressed during this time.

Tondi starts the game with a 90 Overall, the second-highest in F1 Manager 2023.

Tondi's highest stat is his Low Speed Downforce at 93. His lowest attribute is 83 Cooling, showing that he's not as well-rounded as some of the other top Head of Aerodynamics in the game.

Jarrod Murphy

Jarrod Murphy has worked for Mercedes since 2013, and has seen unprecedented success during this time.

Mercedes won eight consecutive Constructors' Championships between 2014 and 2021, thanks in no small part to Murphy's excellent work in the wind tunnel.

Murphy is an 88 Overall, putting him just above de Beer and onto the podium. His highest attribute is 92 for both his DRS Delta and Airflow Sensitivity. His lowest stat is his Cooling at 83. Perhaps that explains Mercedes' no-sidepod concept over the past few seasons!

Dirk de Beer

Dirk de Beer is another long-time servant of a Formula 1 team, having initially been employed by Alpine back when they were Renault in 2008. de Beer has also worked for Ferrari and Williams before rejoining Renault in 2019.

Alpine's performance in this time has been indifferent, although that's probably not down to the lack of development in their car.

87 Overall places de Beer fourth on the overall Head of Aerodynamics list, making him a very good acquisition for those wanting to move up the grid.

de Beer's highest attribute is 91 Airflow Sensitivity, with his lowest being 85 High Speed Downforce.

Peter Prodromou

Peter Prodromou has been working on and off for McLaren for over thirty years now. Prodromou initially joined the Woking-based team in 1991, but left for Red Bull with Adrian Newey in 2006.

The Cypriot returned to McLaren in 2014 and has steadily worked his way up to replace James Key as the Head of Aerodynamics at the team when Key became Technical Director.

Prodromou starts the game as an 84 Overall, with very consistent stats across the board. His highest attribute is 86 Airflow Sensitivity, while his lowest is still a respectable 83 across Medium and Low Speed Downforce, Drag Reduction and Airflow Management.
