Forza Horizon 5’s first expansion arrived last month with the release of Hot Wheels. This is the second time a Hot Wheels-themed expansion has been released for a Forza Horizon game.
Despite being unoriginal, Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels has already surpassed one million players - an impressive feat considering it's been out for less than two weeks.
Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels surpasses one million players
The Hall of Fame leaderboard shows the number of players who have loaded the DLC. Just under two weeks after its 19 July launch, the Hot Wheels expansion has already been played by over one million players.
It’s a strong start for the Hot Wheels expansion, then, with Forza Horizon 5 also reaching over 20 million players as of June 2022. FH5 players have been starved of new content, with the Hot Wheels expansion arriving later than expected.
FH4’s first expansion, Fortune Island, was released less than three months after FH4. Hot Wheels, on the other hand, arrived nearly nine months after the launch of FH5 last November.
What does Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels include?
Released on 19 July, Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels includes ten new cars, four of which are Hot Wheels cars scaled up to life-size.
There’s also a new map set high above the clouds to explore, with ribbons of orange Hot Wheels tracks linking four distinct biomes: Giant's Canyon, Ice Cauldron, Forest Falls, and Horizon Nexus.
These locations feature gravity-defying magnet tracks as well as ice and water flumes to race on.
Hot Wheels is a fun time if you’re a fan of FH5, but we found the lack of exploration lets it down.
