It’s been a few months since the release of the Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion. Like previous Forza Horizon games, Forza Horizon 5 will get two expansions. During November’s Forza Monthly, Playground Games shared an update on the Forza Horizon 5 Expansion 2 release date.

Forza Horizon 5 Expansion 2 coming in early 2023

Unfortunately, Forza Horizon 5 Expansion 2 won’t be coming this year. Instead,, Game Designer Torben Ellert announced the next expansion is coming in early 2023, with more details to be shared in the new year.

"We're hard at work building the second expansion for Forza Horizon 5,” he said during Forza Monthly. “You can expect to see it in early 2023. We will have more to share after we enter the new year."

What can we expect in Forza Horizon 5 Expansion 2?

Unfortunately, no other details were shared about the next expansion. The theme remains a mystery.

Released back in July, the last expansion returned to the world of Hot Wheels, bringing a new Horizon Hot Wheels Park map with four biohomes set in the clouds, a five-part Horizon Story, and ten new cars.

Forza Horizon 5‘s second expansion will be released later than usual. The final expansions for Forza Horizon 3 and 4 launched eight-nine months after release. By comparison, Forza Horizon 5 has already been out for over a year.

Included with the Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition and Expansions Bundle, Expansion 2 will “introduce a new world location, vehicles, and gameplay.” Since we’ve already had the Hot Wheels expansion, it’s unlikely to be another franchise crossover. We could get another island expansion like to Forza Horizon 4’s Fortune Island DLC. More details will be revealed early next year.
