Forza Horizon 5 is just a few weeks away! We can't wait to explore the Mexico map or to start collecting the vast car list. But with the release just around the corner it's time to double-check our PCs can run this open-world racer. What are the minimum specs for Forza Horizon 5?

Thankfully, Forza Horizon 5 doesn't require a beast of a gaming PC. That said, it's unlikely your average laptop will be able to handle it!

The minimum requirements to play Forza Horizon 5 are:

  • x64 architecture
  • 8GB RAM
  • 4GB video memory
  • Intel i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • NVidia GTX 970 or AMD RX 470
  • 110 GB storage

Of course, with the minimum specs, you won’t expect to get the best resolution or frame rate. You’ll also likely miss out on the ray-tracing lighting in Forzavista and the ray-traced audio effects in the canyon area.

Will Forza Horizon 5 require Windows 10?

Forza Horizon 5 does require Windows 10. While over two-thirds of the most popular games on Steam are now Linux compatible, Forza Horizon 5 will not be. This is also bad news for those who have managed to get hold of a Steam Deck.

The minimum version of Windows 10 you need does vary a little between Steam and the Microsoft Store. Steam requires version 15063.0 or higher, which is slightly older than the version 18362.0 or higher the Microsoft Store demands. This could be worth knowing if you avoid running Windows Update!

Microsoft has published a recommended specification for better performance in Forza Horizon 5. Here it is:

  • 16GB RAM
  • 8GB video memory
  • Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • NVidia GTX 1070 or AMD RX 590
