GTA V launched in 2013, and while GTA Online has been giving players plenty to do in Los Santos, it hasn't stopped fans wanting a new adventure.
With next-gen now released, what do we know about GTA 6? Let's take a look now!
The latest leaks from insider Tom Henderson have revealed a bit more about the game to us.
This includes some rather disappointing release date news (the game supposedly has a projected 2024-25 release date), as well as a setting of modern-day Vice City.
As always, take these leaks with a pinch of salt, but it's exciting to receive a bit more GTA6 news prior to release!
GTA 6 Release Date
With no official release date, we have to pick through the clues to try and find when the new game may arrive.
Fans are still in the dark about any GTA 6 development, however there are some indications that it is in the works.
In fact, a recent job listing was looking for someone to help with "creating and texturing environment assets for the biggest and best open-world environment in the industry".
Unless we're already waiting for a Red Dead Redemption 3 (RDR2 dropped in 2018, just over 2 years ago) chances are this is for GTA 6.
2023 Marketing Spend
Take-Two Interactive, the company behind Rockstar, are looking to spend $89 million on advertising in 2023.
This is thanks to a report by Venture Beat, and makes sense if Rockstar are aiming for a 10 year release cycle.
Such a large budget would indicate that the team behind the game are looking to release GTA 6 in 2023.
With the game potentially seeing a 2023 release, it is highly unlikely that the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One will see GTA 6.
Instead, we are certain the game will release for PS5 and Xbox Series X instead.
Also, it is more than likely that PC will get a version of the game from day 1, given GTA V's popularity on the platform.
The map is an essential part of the game that many are desperate to find out.
We have seen 3 GTA locations so far, Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas.
GTA 4 returned to Liberty City and San Andreas made its way to GTA V.
This just leaves Vice City for GTA 6, and we wouldn't be surprised if the game was set entirely or partially there.
The latest rumour has it that the game will split between Florida and Mexico, with the Florida action happening in Vice City. Of course, that's just a rumour!
GTA V Next-Gen
We have seen that GTA V will be making its way on to next-gen at some point in 2021.
This version of the game will boast improved visuals, frame rate and resolution over its last-gen counterpart.
This means that GTA V will have launched on 3 different PlayStation consoles by the end of 2021.
For us petrolheads, GTA Online is a good chance to experience some online car culture.
With the game recently having its first map change, we're sure the game will be updated into GTA 6's lifespan.
The company is making a huge amount of money off of GTA Online. As such, we don't see any reason why it wouldn't continue!
In true next-gen game style, expect the game to cost around the £60 mark.
With many titles initially launching at 60 and higher, we wouldn't be surprised to see such a steep pricetag.
After nearly a 10 year wait, we hope the game is worth it!
