Can You Run iRacing On The PS4?

You've been a racing fan for a while, and you love the sport! You've recently found iRacing and wanted to give it a shot. As a casual gamer, you've been thinking if you can run the game on the PS4?

Well, we have some news for you. Unfortunately, the answer is no, you cannot run iRacing on your PS4.

iRacing is a PC exclusive game, but that's part of why it's such a great game! Let's show you why that is.

Unavailable to consoles

Much like the case with the Xbox One, consoles don't support iRacing. The PC is the exclusive platform that supports it. To some, this is sad news. And while we ideally would like iRacing to be available on all platforms, it's not so easy when technicalities are factored in. And additionally, iRacing separates itself from console racing titles.

The unavailability of consoles is something that the iRacing developers have thought of surely. You can tell by this April Fools joke they made back in 2015 about iRacing coming to mobile, and it's hilarious!

We have to give it to the iRacing team for responding to wants in such a light and funny way! And, you can tell by watching that there isn't really any interest in shifting or adding platforms for the game. However, we'll discuss why focusing on one platform is be a good idea.

Why consoles are a no go

While this was 5 years ago, it is possible, but unlikely, that iRacing would want to get into the market for consoles, and that's for a few reasons. Firstly, is that the code is specifically made for PC, which means that accomodating consoles, will be a toiling task.

Moreover, PC updates and improvements are provided consistently, and more often. This means that PC overall will always have the best performance compared to consoles. And this is a key point to factor in. Additionally, you should remember that iRacing caters to professional drivers, so giving the absolute best experience is one of their goals.

You can't run iRacing on the PS4

Unfortunately, as of yet, there are no plans for iRacing to come to consoles. And it's not really looking like that will change for the time being. iRacing is very complex, and considering how the game works, the audience, there doesn't feel like there is a reason to create a console port. It would stray away from its goal.

So realistically, the reason iRacing is so well handled and developed is due to how it is looked after so well on this singular platform. Thank you to the iRacing team for taking excellent care of this sim, and harvesting the fruits of their success!
