Expeditions: A MudRunner Game has received a surprise free update. Breaking Ground is by far the biggest update yet, adding a new map, new missions to complete, and new vehicles to drive.

All-new territory

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game had a limited amount of territory to explore at launch. Although the maps were extensive, there were only three to explore at launch.

That’s now changed with the Breaking Ground update, which adds a new Arizona map. With the landscape impacted by a recent earthquake, it's up to you to transport supplies where it's needed.

Players must use their exploration skills to navigate the barren hills and dangerous canyons. An expedition has been launched to discover a long-lost ancient civilization, and your expedition skills are necessary to help uncover one of Earth’s greatest discoveries.

For the first time in the MudRunner series, the Breaking Ground update teases future updates. Drivers can discover an introduction to Kanab Creek caves, with the expedition continuing underground in future updates.

With a new map to explore, players will need some new wheels to traverse the terrain. Fortunately, the Breaking Ground update provides just that.

Brand-new vehicles

Two new vehicles have been added as part of the Breaking Ground update. They are designed to help navigate the treacherous terrain of Arizona.

First up is the SIRO 72 T8-H. This scout vehicle is perfect for negotiating rough terrain while also keeping things moving at a nice pace.

The other new vehicle coming to the game is the AFIM Hornet 622T. This carrier ensures that valuable supplies will reach their destination unscathed despite the punishing landscape.

These vehicles are the perfect tools for taking on the 22 new missions included in the Breaking Ground update, which also adds a new specialist called Marcus Kingsley to help you with the expedition. These new skills will be crucial when the going gets tough out in the wilderness.

New vehicles, new missions, and a new map will keep players occupied for hours. But even more content is planned for the future.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game roadmap

A roadmap shows what new content Expeditions: A MudRunner Game fans can expect between now and Q2 2025 including new game mechanics, specialists, and vehicles.

While every update will be free, paid DLC will also be available over the next year. The most exciting addition, however, is the long-awaited co-op mode, which is due to arrive this summer.

Finally being able to explore the terrain with a partner is an experience many Expeditions players have been looking forward to. This is before the next round of free content is added in Season 1 this August.
