Last week, Gran Turismo 7’s Update 1.15 brought new content and sweeping changes to Polyphony’s racing simulation. The update added three new cars including the fictional Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo, the Toyota GR010 Hybrid Le Mans Racer, and the Roadster Shop Rampage.
As well as new cars, the patch notes outlined changes made to the force feedback on certain Thrustmaster and Fanatec wheels. It wasn't clear why GT7’s wheel force feedback was changed in the update, but we now have an explanation.
Force feedback downgraded in Gran Turismo 7
An update on the official Gran Turismo website explains that Polyphony has discovered an issue where using certain steering wheels and vehicles in Gran Turismo 7 is causing “excessively strong force feedback vibrations” that “could result in injury.”
As a temporary solution, Polyphony has “reduced the intensity” force feedback and torque on the following wheels:
- Thrustmaster T-GT
- Fanatec Podium
- Fanatec GT DD Pro
Polyphony is working to improve the performance and will implement “more suitable force feedback sensitivity” for each affected wheel in a future update. It’s not clear how long it will take for the next update to roll out.
The timing is certainly unfortunate as the Gran Turismo World Series kicked off last weekend. Many professional players compete with these wheels that now have nerfed force feedback that could affect their performance.
Gran Turismo 7 Fanatec GT DD Pro settings
Frustrated with the update, some players have already shared new settings for the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro on the GTPlanet forum that apparently make the force feedback even better. While the strength is still reduced, these settings improve the clarity of the force feedback according to GTPlanet.
GT DD Pro Advanced Settings
- SEN: AUTO
- FFB: 100
- FFS: PEAK
- NDP: 10
- NFR: 10
- NIN: 10
- INT: 3
- FEI: 100
- FOR: 120
- SPR: 0
- DPR: 0
GT7 In-Game Settings
- Force Feedback Max Torque: 10
- Force Feedback Sensitivity: 1
To apply these settings, you need to access the Fanatec GT DD Pro’s advanced tuning setting by pressing the black button next to the LCD screen. After the screen turns on, press and hold the black button again until the screen displays the “Mod changed to advanced text.” will turn the screen on.
To access the advanced tuning menu to change these settings, press the small black button just to the left of the LCD screen. The screen will turn on, then press and hold the button again for a few seconds until the screen confirms it has “MOD CHANGED TO ADVANCED.”
Use the joystick to navigate the menu and scroll to either “SET 1” or “SET 2.” These profiles allow you to save custom settings. With SET 1 or SET 2 selected, move the joystick left or right to select a setting. Then move the joystick up or down to change the setting.
