Will Le Mans Ultimate Be On Xbox?

Will Le Mans Ultimate Be On Xbox?

Le Mans Ultimate is the best chance we have of competing in the epic 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Instead of having to drive the car through day and night, wind and rain, we can stay indoors with the luxury of a pause menu. There is one big question though, will Le Mans Ultimate be on Xbox?

Enduring racing

Le Mans Ultimate is being developed by Studio 397, owned by Motorsport Games. Despite all the rumours of cancellation, especially due to the recent cuts by Motorsport Games, Le Mans Ultimate has been confirmed as still going ahead. With the first trailer now released, players have started asking the usual questions.

The biggest one by far is which platforms the game will be released on. With every new racing title, there is always a buzz about whether it’s a console-exclusive or even limited to only PC. So will Le Mans Ultimate be coming to the Xbox Series X|S?

Consoling players

For Xbox players, we’re afraid it’s bad news. Dom Duhan, head of Studio 397, revealed in a developer blog that Le Mans Ultimate will be a PC-only title from release. Therefore at the time of writing, PC will be the only platform you’ll be able to play Le Mans Ultimate on, but that situation may change in the future.

Studio 397 has revealed that a console port may be possible in the future, but it depends on both available technology and the sales of the game on PC. It’s not new to see a game sell well on one platform before being ported over to another, so hopefully the same will happen for Le Mans Ultimate.

Considering how intense the Le Mans races can be, it may still be a tough ask to render a full race on Xbox and PS5 if the game were to be ported. Even the Series X's incredible power pales compared to a mid-range gaming PC. Studio 397’s physics engine has also only been fully utilised on PC in the past, but that could change with the current generation of console.

"Our focus is the PC at this stage, we know that PCs have been traditionally the only platform that can run our physics engine to a great degree, however, the latest generation consoles can also now do it," Duhan revealed.

So it’s not good for Xbox players, but the consoling news is that one day you may be able to tackle Le Mans on your Xbox consoles.
