Need for Speed Unbound has a lot of cars for you to check out. It's one in particular that has our attention today though, as we're going to find an absolute classic.

Anybody that has played Need for Speed knows the BMW M3 GTR, it's iconic. Initially appearing as the protagonist's car in Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005), it has gone on to make cameo appearances in NFS games ever since.

In Most Wanted's sequel, Carbon, the M3 GTR was in the opening cutscene and was unlockable later in the game. Since then, titles like No Limits, World, Edge and even Heat have featured this vehicle.

How to unlock the M3 GTR

There are a couple of ways to unlock the BMW M3 GTR in Need for Speed Unbound. The first and quickest is by using EA Play, as you will automatically unlock it in multiplayer when you're a subscriber.

If you already have EA Play, you're good to go, but if not, you can subscribe for a month and cancel later on if you wish.

The second method is to unlock the car by advancing in the story. There's a specific mission when you need to win an event driving the M3 GTR and you unlock it when you've done so.

This will unlock the car in both single and multiplayer.

Customisation

The M3 GTR isn't just a pretty face, it's much more than that. As this is the former ride of the Blacklist #1 in Most Wanted, it's quick, really quick. The car comes with all the bells and whistles that made it so loved 17 years ago.

Unbound doesn't stop there though, as you can customise your M3 GTR even more.

This is a far cry from Heat, where you couldn't customise the M3 GTR at all. In Unbound though, you have this freedom and can change both how the car looks and how it performs.

Some things such as the body kit cannot be altered, but paint schemes and wheel rims can. On the performance side, you can add the most high-tech parts to the car, including a V12 engine.

Despite its age, the M3 GTR can be one of the fastest cars in NFS Unbound, especially when it's customised.
