In an age where players are starting to look back at classic games, all racing fans should look no further than Need for Speed: Underground 2. One of the standout games of the Need for Speed series, Underground 2 has received a major mod perfect for racing in 2024.
The glory days
Need for Speed: Underground 2 is billed by many as the Need for Speed franchise's peak. Coming just one year before the incredible Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Underground 2 sees players climb the ranks in Bayview City, taking on the Wraiths race crew.
Need for Speed: Underground 2 took everything that made the original great and took it to the limit. With high-adrenaline street races, a wide range of cars to choose from, and a gripping storyline, Underground 2 represented Need for Speed at its absolute best.
Need for Speed: Underground 2 celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, with many still hopping back into Bayview City for another gripping street race. To coincide with the anniversary, a new mod brings Need for Speed: Underground 2 back to the front of the grid.
The RTX treatment
More and more games from the 2000s are being remastered for modern gaming, and now Need for Speed: Underground 2 has had the same treatment. Taking advantage of Nvidia’s new RTX Remix app, Underground 2 has been remastered with modern visuals thanks to the Need for Speed: Underground 2 Remix mod.
Bayview City has never looked so good, with ray tracing, Nvidia DLSS, and upgraded art assets allowing the game to utilise 4K resolution and run at a smooth 60fps. The Need for Speed: Underground 2 Remix mod has been created by a team of eight incredibly talented modders, with the game now able to compete with the likes of Forza Horizon 5 and The Crew Motorfest.
The RTX Remix mod is available for any classic game to receive an upgrade for the modern era. With so many iconic racing titles released in the same period, this is hopefully the start of the racing renaissance we’ve all been waiting for. Bring on the Burnout 3 remix!
