Le Mans Ultimate Won’t Have 2024 Cars at Launch

With only two weeks until the Early Access launch, the full launch-day Le Mans Ultimate car list has been revealed. However, eagle-eyed fans will notice that every car is from the 2023 World Endurance Championship season, not the upcoming 2024 season.

No 2024 cars in Le Mans Ultimate at launch

Referring to the 2024 WEC cars in Le Mans Ultimate, Studio 397 says it plans to “bring them into the game in the future” in a post on X accompanying the car list announcement. However, it’s not clear if this means 2024 WEC cars will be added in a free update or as paid DLC.

This could be due to licensing issues, but it will be disappointing for WEC fans as Le Mans Ultimate will be outdated when it launches later this month in Early Access, although it was originally slated for a December 2023 release.

This year’s season sees the arrival of new Hypercar prototypes from Alpine, BMW, Lamborghini and Isotta Fraschini, but none of them will be available in Le Mans Ultimate at launch.

Instead, Le Mans Ultimate will let players race the 2023 Cadillac V-Series.R, Glickenhaus 007, Peugeot 9X8, Porsche 963, Toyota GR010, Vanwall Vandervell 680, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning Ferrari 499P in the Hypercar class.

Last year’s GTE Class is also being replaced with GT3 cars in the 2024 season, while the LMP2 class will no longer feature on the grid. Le Mans Ultimate won’t reflect these changes, as the new racing simulation is based on the 2023 WEC season.

Le Mans Ultimate car list revealed

At launch, Le Mans Ultimate will feature 12 cars across three classes (Hypercar, LMP2, and GTE) with over 100 liveries. You can check out the full Le Mans Ultimate car list here.

The first official WEC game in over 20 years, Le Mans Ultimate races onto Steam Early Access on 20 February. As well as all cars and circuits from the 2023 WEC season, the Early Access version will include a Championship mode allowing players to customise races and ranked online multiplayer, but there’s no career mode, co-op multiplayer, or VR support.

Studio 397 will work with the community to gather feedback and add new features to shape the final game. Le Mans Ultimate will be PC-only initially, but Studio 397 is "exploring the opportunity" to bring it to consoles in the future according to an online FAQ.
