Monster Energy Supercross 5 arrived on PC and consoles last week. Improvements and new features introduced to Milestone's supercross game make for a thrilling experience. There is, however, another off-road racing game that may have slipped under your radar.

THQ Nordic’s long-running MX vs ATV series returns this year with Mx vs ATV Legends. The off-road racer was announced last year, and now THQ Nordic has confirmed the MX vs ATV Legends release date.

THQ Nordic has announced MX vs ATV Legends is landing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 24 May 2022. Preorders for the base game, Leader Pack, and Icons Pack are now live for all formats.

The Leader Pack includes the base game and a season pass, which will add 22 tracks throughout the year. Three track packs will be available, starting with the 2022 Nationals. This pack includes 13 tracks from the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

After the 2022 Nationals, a “huge compound from a famous pro rider” will launch, followed by the Supercross World Tour DLC pack featuring six challenging Supercross tracks. An exclusive customisation pack for your rider and vehicles will also be available as a pre-order bonus.

MX vs ATV Legends buggy — Tear up the dirt in bikes, buggies, and ATVs

Available for a limited time, the Icon Pack combines all content in the Leader Pack with 36 off-road vehicles Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Polaris, Suzuki and Yamaha. While the extra tracks will be split into three packs released in 2022, the extra vehicles will be available at launch.

New Trails mode

Coinciding with the release date announcement is a new gameplay trailer showcasing Mx vs ATV Legends’ new thrilling Trails mode.

This mode focuses on high-octane point-to-point outdoor races, dropping players into a starting gate in the middle of a mountain range. As always, races in MX vs ATV Legends feature a mix of dirt bikes, buggies, and ATVs.

A sequel to 2018’s MX vs ATV All Out, MX vs ATV Legends marks the series’ debut on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, resulting in improved visuals and refined physics.

A new career mode lets you carve your own path, with choices leading to sponsorship opportunities and invitational events.

There are also massive open environments including the California coastline, as well as a two-player split-screen mode and online multiplayer with “squad-based gameplay” for up to 16 players.
