Shared on Reddit, the brief 47-second long gameplay clip is reportedly taken from a beta test build of new Need for Speed mobile game in development by Tencent’s TiMi Studios.

Having also worked on Call of Duty Mobile and Pokemon Unite, the Chinese developer is experienced with mobile spin-offs based on established franchises.

Need for Speed Mobile will reportedly use a modified version of Need for Speed Heat's map.

According to the Reddit user, there are only three cars in the current build: the McLaren F1, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and Lamborghini Gallardo. We expect the final game will have a larger car roster.

The leaked gameplay footage shows all three supercars roaming around what appears to be a modified version of Need for Speed Heat’s Palm City map.

Like in NFS Heat, players can freely roam the map according to the Reddit user. On-screen touch buttons for steering, braking, steering, and boosting can be seen in the leaked gameplay footage.

Need for Speed Mobile's car handling is said to be similar to Need for Speed Edge.

Reportedly running on Unreal Engine 4, Need for Speed Mobile looks visually impressive for a mobile game. According to the Reddit user, the car handling is similar to NFS Edge with drift boost effects.

While NFS Mobile will allegedly be based on NFS Heat’s map, the leaker says it won’t have a story mode or cop chases. NFS Mobile is expected to launch as a free-to-play mobile game. Presumably, it will replace the NFS No Limits mobile game, which launched back in 2015.

Need for Speed confirmed for 2022 launch

While NFS Mobile hasn’t been officially revealed yet, EA confirmed this week that the next mainline Need for Speed game will release in Q4 2022 between 1 October and 31 December.

It will reportedly be set in a fictionalised version of Chicago called Lake Shore City and only release on the current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
