Twisted Metal TV show teased for 2023

PlayStation Productions has found considerable success with The Last of US TV adaptation breaking ratings records at HBO and Uncharted becoming a box office hit.

For petrolheads, the Gran Turismo movie adaptation directed by Neill Blomkamp is racing into theatres this summer. But this might not be the only auto-related PlayStation adaptation coming this year.

Twisted Metal TV show teased for 2023

PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash has Tweeted a video of a lift at a Sony office showing current and future projects. The Gran Turismo logo can be seen on the inside of the lift doors, which open to reveal a wall poster of The Last of US.

However, Qizilbash also implies that a Twisted Metal TV show is coming in 2023 too. “PlayStation Productions this year in one elevator ride,” he tweeted.

He went on to add “You can’t see me, but my head is on fire too,” ending the Tweet with clown and fire emojis in a nod to Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth the clown.

It’s no secret that a Twisted Metal TV show is production. Starring Anthony Mackie as John Doe, Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, and Samoa Joe as Sweet Tooth (voiced by Will Arnett providing the voice) filming for the TV series finished last year.

With Qizilbash teasing a 2023 release, it’s probably only a matter of time until we see a trailer.

New Twisted Metal game reboot rumoured

Given that the series has been dormant for over ten years, with the last game in the series releasing on PS3 back in 2012, Twisted Metal is a curious choice for a TV adaptation.

However, a Twisted Metal PS5 reboot is rumoured to be in development by Firesprite Games, co-developer of the Horizon Call of the Mountain PSVR 2 spin-off.

Although the project hasn’t been officially announced, it would make sense for a game reboot to coincide with the TV show and revive weaponised car combat games for a new generation.
