3 Icons we'd love Codemasters to add to F1 2021

The hype for F1 2021 truly got going this week as Codemasters announced the seven historic drivers that would be available as My Team teammates for Deluxe Edition owners.

These drivers, dubbed "Icons", feature some of the biggest names from the history of Formula 1. But while Codemasters' has created a purposefully tailored and tiered list, not everyone is happy about the names omitted from the list.

These are the names we'd love to see hit the game.

Mika Hakkinen

The Finnish double-World Champion is the most recent title winner missing from the F1 2021 game.

While certainly not the longest-serving or most successful F1 driver, Hakkinen has the respect of every F1 fan and driver.

Arguably Michael Schumacher's greatest rival though the German's epic career, Hakkinen's remarkable touch behind the wheel and friendly demeanour around the paddock made him a beloved figure.

We would give Hakkinen a 91 overall rating in F1 2021.

Juan Pablo Montoya

The fiery Colombian driver was a love him or hate him kind of driver in Formula 1, but boy did he entertain.

The only one to really take the fight to Ferrari & Schumacher in the early 2000s. A four-time podium finisher, and one-time winner, in his 2001 rookie season, Montoya took no prisoners during his time with Williams and is arguably their best driver since the highes of Damon Hill in 1996.

Montoya would probably have an 89 overall rating if he were to appear in the game.

Giancarlo Fisichella

Fisi may not be the first, or even hundredth, driver that springs to mind when you hear Icon, but he's certainly a fan favourite.

Fisi's time with Minardi, Jordan, Benetton, and Renault was filled with strong drives and bad luck. While perhaps best known as Fernando Alonso's teammate, the three-time race winner had plenty of pace himself during his 229 races.

He would fit right in with the Coulthard/Massa range and an 85 overall rating would do just right.

Which F1 drivers from history would you love to see added?
