CarX Drift Racing Online Ultimate Guide: Car List, PS4, Xbox One, Mods & more

We can't get enough of CarX Drift Racing Online. This could well be the best drifting game on the mobile market and has seamlessly transitioned to other consoles. From modding to crossplay, we've got the low-down on everything you need to know about CarX right here!

Gameplay

CarX Drift Online Racing has one basic mechanic but does it so well. You send the car sideways and drift. It's not as easy as it sounds, far from it, because preventing the car from spinning around while maintaining a drift is difficult.

SIDEWAYS FUN: CarX Drift Racing Online is so much fun to play

The more you drift, the more money you earn, and the more stages and cars become unlocked. It's a simple contest, but it's as old as racing games themselves and there's a reason why it's stuck around for as long as it has.

Availability

CarX Drift Racing Online began as a mobile game. It's still available for both Android and iOS devices via the Play and App stores, respectively. CarX made the transition out of being a mobile exclusive to being available on PC in 2017. In 2019, CarX made its console debut when it was released on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

MAKE THE LEAP: CarX has been out on console for 2 years now

There are currently no announcements when it comes to CarX being released on the next-gen consoles. You can play CarX on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X though, using the consoles' backwards compatibility feature.

Multiplayer

CarX is best enjoyed with friends, as its multiplayer modes are extremely fun. Despite not having it enabled at first, cross-platform play has been implemented into CarX.

That means that as long as you're all playing on a home console or PC, you can take part in the same lobbies. Mobile users are still excluded from that though, although that could change in the future.

Car List

There are currently over 50 cars to choose from in CarX Drift Online Racing. That's a huge amount for what is essentially a mobile game. To check out the full library, check out or full car list article and to find out which are the best cars in the game, head over to our top five picks!

Mods

Since CarX made the transition to PC and Steam, the game has supported a thriving modding community. Sadly, you cannot mod CarX on console nor mobile, but the PC version has limitless potential.

We gave our take on which mods are best in our modding guide article.

Sequel

CarX has a sequel, CarX Drift 2, that has been out since 2019. Unlike the original game though, it hasn't made the jump to PC nor console. There's no word yet from CarX technologies on whether CarX 2 will be released on consoles outside of the mobile market.

ON THE BIG SCREEN: CarX 2 would be amazing to play on home console

However, CarX could come to console, in particular the PS5 and Series X. A release date is currently unknown though, so don't expect it anytime soon.

Next-gen

CarX 2 hasn't come out on console, but CarX hasn't been released on the next-gen consoles either. CarX may be available on multiple systems, but PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X aren't two of them.
