Euro Truck Simulator 2: Map DLC Tier List

Euro Truck Simulator 2 keeps growing, and its nine map expansions now span everything from the vast Nordic fjords to the sunbaked Aegean. That choice can be overwhelming if you are new to the game or are buying DLC one at a time.

My ranking focuses on how interesting each road feels behind the wheel. I lean toward coastal drives, mountain passes, and town-to-town trucking; six-lane motorways rarely grab me. Your mileage may vary, but this list should still clarify which packs showcase the simulator at its best and which are better left for a sale.

S-Tier – Scenic Royalty

Beyond the Baltic Sea

This expansion never lets the highway autopilot kick in. Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, southern Finland, and Kaliningrad are connected mostly by single-carriageway routes that weave through pine forests, fishing villages, and blocky post-Soviet housing.

The frequent border checks add a hint of real-world paperwork without slowing the pace, and the first peek at Russia makes the eastern edge feel genuinely remote. If you want roads that stay personal and varied, start here.

Romania, Bulgaria, and European Turkey are stitched together in ways that keep the drive fresh: hill climbs through the Carpathians, village main streets that force low speeds, and Istanbul’s busy roads as a final stress test.

A long haul from the UK to Istanbul highlights how far Euro Truck Simulator 2 has come visually, moving from older textures in the west to modern assets in the east. It is also the backbone for the time-consuming (yet very enjoyable!) Orient Express achievement, so completionists take note.

West Balkans

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia deliver a little of everything: Adriatic coastlines, mountain switchbacks, industrial river valleys.

Outside the Schengen Area, you will stop for documents, but the extra step reinforces that you are in a different corner of Europe. The viewpoints sprinkled across the map are worth every pull-off, and the whole region feels tailor-made for a multiplayer convoy.

A-Tier – Almost Top Gear

Scandinavia

Released in 2015, Scandinavia shows its age in some textures, yet the layout still shines. The Bergen-Oslo route mixes fjord ferries, cliff-side tunnels, and tight mountain bends into a compact demonstration of what makes trucking fun. It is the area I use to introduce friends to the game, and with the upcoming Nordic Horizons rework on the horizon, its roads should only improve.

Greece

Smaller in scope and price, Greece compensates with craftsmanship. In the DLC, the environment feels cohesive without leaning on repetition. Island hopping does mean a few loading screens, but the coastal drives on Crete and the Peloponnese make up for the pause. If you take screenshots as often as deliveries, Greece is an easy buy.

B-Tier – Reliable Workhorses

Italia

Italia finishes the peninsula that the base game only teased. Northern highways are serviceable, but the pack comes alive south of Rome. The climb near Cassino demands careful control, and the detour through Sicily mixes motorway and hillside villages in a single evening’s run. It is not the flashiest DLC, yet the game’s map looks incomplete without it.

Vive la France!

France offers lavender fields that stand in stark contrast to its nuclear-plant contracts, along with beautiful Corsican cliff roads. However, it also drowns you in tollbooths. The constant stop-and-pay cycle saps momentum, especially in multiplayer.

Still, France sits between many other expansions, so owning it makes cross-continental jobs simpler. I keep my main garage in Bastia for the scenery, then grit my teeth whenever a toll gate appears. For my less attentive friends, this tends to cause pileups and inevitable save-scumming.

Iberia

Spain and Portugal arrive in one enormous package. The landscapes change quickly, from dry plateaus near Madrid to green hills in Galicia - but most of those kilometers happen on modern autovías. Shortcuts through secondary roads exist, yet they are sparse compared with other DLCs. Iberia is impressive for scale and variety, though less so for intimate driving.

C-Tier – Begrudgingly Necessary

Going East!

As the first and cheapest map pack, Going East! Opened Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary a decade ago. Age shows in flatter terrain, simpler intersections, and low-resolution assets. I rarely choose jobs here unless a contract forces me through. The DLC is mainly a bridge to the newer Black Sea, Baltic, Balkan, and Greek regions. Pick it up on discount; otherwise, park your money elsewhere.

Final Delivery

Every Euro Truck Simulator 2 map DLC adds fresh kilometers and culture, but not all deliver the same excitement per mile. If scenery and road variety matter most, grab the S-tier first, follow up with the polished A-tier, then fill gaps with the dependable B-tier.

Take note that most of these DLCs are also available in packs and bundles, so your trucking experience does not have to be done piecemeal - they’re all generally cheaper this way. In whatever way you stack the trailer, have safe travels, and make sure to enjoy the view.
