SCS Software has finally ended months of speculation and given in to fan demands: a full rework of the United Kingdom is coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The announcement arrived in a characteristically playful way. In a new blog post and three-minute video titled “How To: Proper Cup of Tea,” the studio walks viewers through making a brew while slipping in unmistakable British imagery and ending with the Euro Truck Simulator 2 logo.
The post’s closing line, “You may just need this knowledge on the road ahead…,” made the hint impossible to miss.
Why the UK Needs a Rework

The UK portion of Euro Truck Simulator 2’s map dates back to the game’s 2012 launch. Compared with recent DLC and overhauls such as Germany and the Benelux, Britain’s roads look flat, its cities feel sparse, and many landmarks are missing. Fans have joked for years about driving on “cardboard” motorways and navigating copy-paste roundabouts.
What to Expect
SCS hasn’t shown screenshots or given a release window yet, but its recent reworks offer a good idea of what’s coming:
- Redesigned road network that matches real-world layouts and junctions
- Denser cities with recognizable landmarks and more local flavor
- Improved countryside scenery, from rolling hills to coastal routes
- Updated assets for signs, bridges, service stations, and ports
Best of all, the rework will be a free update for everyone who owns the base game, effectively adding a (very much needed) fresh, large-scale map expansion without extra cost.
What’s Next?
With confirmation now public, players can look forward to the usual SCS development cycle: work-in-progress screenshots, blog deep dives, and eventually an open beta. For now, British, Scottish, Welsh (and maybe Irish!) Euro Truck Simulator 2 fans can finally relax - the upgrade is real, and the first previews shouldn’t be far off.
Keep the kettle handy. A brand-new drive through England, Scotland, and Wales is on the way.
